Advertisements, ca. 1931.

A small group of ads from John G. Matthews, an antiques dealer in Baltimore, ca.1931. The ads are for architectural elements, such as mantels, columns, and a staircase, removed from Maryland houses; antique furniture, such as chairs, clocks, and chests; and reproduction furniture made by his own shop. As well, there is a small booklet entitled "Antiques," reproducing the text of a radio talk given by Matthews. Also included is an ad from the Brainard Lemon Silver Collection of Louisville, Kentucky, with pictures of some of the silver the shop sold. It seems to have specialized in old Sheffield plate. Although this ad was found with the rest of the items, there is no indication of any relationship between the two shops.
